Valero venture on Ogi Bridge Meadow to raise funds for local charity
On Wednesday, April 24th the Valero Refinery’s football team will be travelling to the Bridge Meadow, Haverfordwest to take on Haverfordwest County in a match that is sure to test our players to their limits.
The squad has been selected, training sessions have taken place and with a host of players playing at the top end of the Pembrokeshire league we’re sure to give a good account of ourselves against a team that features some of the Bluebirds’ best players and managers over a number of decades who will be eager to show they can still strut their stuff.
Former glories will be recalled
The County’s All Stars’ team, will be managed by hugely popular former player and manager Wayne ‘Wolvesey’ Jones and will hopefully feature other former managers or veterans like Deryn Brace, Chris O’Sullivan, Wyn Thomas, Dean Rossiter and current coaching staff member Mickie Ellis.
Also there to evoke memories of glory days are players of the calibre of Richie Lewis, Neil Thomas, Nicky Palmer, Luke Borelli, plus the likes of Jack Christopher, Adam Raymond, Lee Hudgell, Nicky Woodrow, Steff Williams and Jordan Followes.
Valero looking to push them all the way
Valero’s team will be managed by Steve Parkes, the current boss of Milford United, and is squad is likely to include his talented young goalkeeper Charlie Malloy and ace goal-grabbers Justin ‘Skinny Harding and Wayne Brunton, plus the following:
Jake Merry; Kieran King; Billy Davies; Rhys Davies; Dylan Davies; Gareth Finnegan, Liam Parkes, Lewis Davies; Lewis Hurlow; Dan Harts; Niall Brunton; Jayden Chapman; Mickey Davies and Gary Hughes.
Valero are one of the main sponsors at the Bridge Meadow, having supported Haverfordwest County’s Academy for a number of years, and the team are looking forward to showcasing their talents against Pembrokeshire’s premier side.
Pre-game entertainment will be provided via an Under 8s mini festival, featuring teams from Haverfordwest Academy, Rising Stars (Haverfordwest’s U9s girls team), Milford Utd and Hundleton.
They’ll also form a guard of honour for the players as they enter the field.
Kick-off is at 7.45pm with proceeds at the gate going to Valero’s charity of the year, ASD Family Help Pembrokeshire.
We look forward to seeing you there.
